There is no feeling like it!My short story 'The Earth Ship' is out today in The Absent Willow Review. I am so glad to see this story in print as it is one I'm particularly proud of. At 8500 words, it's longer than most magazines are comfortable with these days, so I'm particularly grateful that AWR came into existence just in time to pick it up and give it an airing. I wish Rick DeCost every success with this new venture and look forward to seeing even more SF appearing there (are you listening, Rick?).
So please go along and read 'The Earth Ship'. I would be more than happy to hear your views on it - just leave a comment below.

Congratulations! (Applauds)
As soon as I have a proper amount of time to devote, I will read it - I don't want to rush through.
I finally got that time!
I loved it. It did exactly what I want science fiction to do - not only take me to Somewhere Else, but also make me think deeply about the here and now. That is speculative fiction at its best.
Something that impressed me in particular was how you balanced seeing the events through the opposing mind sets very well - difficult thing to pull off. Hell, I can't even express that in a tidy sentence!
Satisfying ending too. I wondered where it would go, and was not disappointed. Hooray! More please :o)
Great Read! This story would make a great podcast submission to www.escapepod.org! I look forward to seeing more...
@Emma, I'm overwhelmed. I'm particularly pleased you liked the ending - what you saw was the third attempt. The previous two endings would definitely have disappointed.
@Anonymous, thank you too! (By the way, you only have to be anonymous when you're saying nasty things :-)) You're not one of the editors at escapepod.org by any chance, are you? (I can dream.) Thanks for the suggestion anyway.
